Steve Chadwick

Today the 6th of August room four had a special visitor.  This was Steve Chadwick who is a Labour MP.  She came into answer the children's questions, which related to our inquiry topic "Citizenship".  The children learnt alot of new information about MP's and their role in the community.  Some of the children said they were thinking of becoming an MP when they are older!
These are the questions the children decided to ask:
-  How do you as an MP help the community and how do you help us at school?
-  Who or what inspired you to become an MP?
-  What do you think a 'citizen' of Rotorua is?
-  What process did you have to go through to become an MP?
-  What laws have you implemented/proposed?
-  What was your first day of being an MP like?
-  What does your job entail?
-  What kind of hours do you work?
-  What kind of things do you do as an MP?
-  What kinds of things do you do outside your job?
-  Why do you like to help other people?
-  Do you think Labour will win the next election?
-  Do you think Phil Gough will lead the Labour party in the next election?
These questions were all made up by the children - they have been concentrating on how to ask good questions in Library time with Mrs Knapman.  Steve answered all of these questions in great depth, she was very interesting to listen to! Ask your child what they thought about it all:)  The children showed her around our school and also showed her our new vamped classrooms.
Here are some photos of the visit:
