Ngakuru Primary School's day trip!!

On Wednesday the 16th of June, Ngakuru Primary School went on a school trip.  Our first stop was the aquatic centre.  The older children went in the deep pool (look at the movie on our blog of the big kids jumping in).  Everyone else went in the junior pool.  We were complemented on our good behaviour by one of the life guards.  Everyone had lots of fun!

After a great time in the pools, we got dressed and ate our lunch.  After lunch we got on the bus and went to the Museum, we were greeted by a teacher called George, who was our guide.  We went to the Museum classroom where we talked and learned about Matariki.  Some of the questions we asked were; Why do we celebrate Matariki?  How do people celebrate Matariki? etc.

We were then put into groups - juniors and seniors.  There were three activities we all did, they were; watch a movie, make Manu tukutuku (Maori kites) and some other Maori activities.  The seniors started with the movie then we did the Maori activities, this included: Stilts, bone horns, spinning tops etc.  Then we went to the classroom to make a Manu tukutuku.

After both groups had been to all the activities, we went back up stairs and into a sound exhibition and got to play on all the different things.  Then we went out the front of the Museum and got back on the bus and went back to school.  It was a very fun trip for everyone!
